Unique Sites in Geneva

• Palais des Nations, headquarter of UNO in Geneva
  Dissolved at a final Assembly held in Geneva in April 1946, the League of Nations handed over its properties and assets to the United Nations Organization, the Palais des Nations being one of its jewels. While the headquarters of the new Organization has since been established in New York, the European Office of the United Nations was created in the Palais des Nations, becoming the United Nations Office at Geneva in 1966. It constitutes a world centre for diplomatic conferences and an operational base for a great number of activities in the economic and social fields and continues to keep alive in Geneva this ‘spirit’ which urged the people in 1920 to choose the city as the meeting place for nations.

Unique Museums in Geneva

• International Museum of the Red Cross and Red Crescent
  The Geneva Red Cross and Red Crescent Museum was lately completely renovated. It features permanent and temorary exhibitions. The museum is located in the Geneva's International area, opposite to main entry to United Nations.
• International Museum of the Reformation
  The MIR (International Museum of the Reformation) was founded in 2005 with the aim of showcasing the living history of Geneva and the Reformation. As such, it tells the story of both an idea and an ambition. The aim of the MIR is not to convert and convince, but to explore and explain the roots of this remarkable destiny.
• Bodmer Foundation - Library and Museum
  
  With over 150,000 manuscripts, printed books, drawings and archeological pieces, the Bodmer Library is the result of nearly a century of acquisitions and research conducted by the creator of the collection, Martin Bodmer, between 1916 and 1971.
• Patek Philippe Museum

• Lavaux, Vineyard Terraces (UNESCO World Heritage)
  The Lavaux Vineyard Terraces, stretching for about 30 km along the south-facing northern shores of Lake Geneva from the Chateau de Chillon to the eastern outskirts of Lausanne in the Vaud region, cover the lower slopes of the mountainside between the villages and the lake. Although there is some evidence that vines were grown in the area in Roman times, the present vine terraces can be traced back to the 11th century, when Benedictine and Cistercian monasteries controlled the area. It is an outstanding example of a centuries-long interaction between people and their environment, developed to optimize local resources so as to produce a highly valued wine that has always been important to the economy.
• Chamonix, Aiguille du Midi
  For more than 50 years, the most famous and highest of the Aiguilles de Chamonix has been an essential world attraction.
  From the centre of Chamonix, a 20 minutes ride in the Aiguille du Midi cable car takes you to the gateway to the high Alps at a height of 3,842 m. From its height of 3,777m, the Aiguille du Midi and its laid-out terraces offer a 360° view of all the French, Swiss and Italian Alps. A lift brings you to the summit terrace at 3,842m, where you will have a clear view of Mont Blanc.

When the sky is clear, there is spectacular view of the surrounding area up to 30 kilometers including the Jura mountains and the Mont Blanc. As well, even if Geneva is overcast and rainy the weather at the mountain’s peak is often nice and sunny.
